Read 1 Corinthians 5-7

“Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11

Corinth was a wicked city. Paul outlines the lifestyles that characterized its citizens in Verses 9-10; fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, homosexuals, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, and swindlers. In many ways, it reflects our Culture. But notice the all important word “were”. At one time, this is what they “were”; but no longer. Paul continues with why this is true; you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified. He also warns the Church, that those that continue in this lifestyle “will not inherit the kingdom of God” and amplifies the warning by saying “Do not be deceived!” May we be on the same page as Paul!
