“The pride of man will be humbled and the loftiness of men will be abased; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,” Isaiah 2:17
As Chapter 2 opens, it begins with an invitation; “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob;” But as Isaiah continues, God reveals the reason they will decline. Israel’s heart is devoted to Idols; and because of this, filled with Pride. In other words, we don’t need “You” God; WE have found “other gods”. Sadly, today’s Verse describes their End in the Day of Reckoning.
For today’s Christian, “true faith” will always be marked by a Humble spirit. God’s Children have a Father that disciplines them, weaning them from depending on anything else but Him; and as a result, they bring Him Glory!
