“Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble.” Proverbs 25:19
Have you ever had a toothache from a cavity, where you can barely use it because of the pain? Or a sprained ankle where you can hardly take a step without wincing? I have had both and it makes normal activities like chewing food and walking very difficult! That’s what Solomon says it’s like to put “confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble.”
There are times when we need to trust others, when we have a task or a project that needs attending to, and we may assign them to such people. But here, Solomon says “in time of trouble”; in a time of importance and urgency. Don’t Do It, he says!
Final thought: There is “One” who is extremely Faithful, and we can totally trust and be confident in. May He be our 1st resource!!!
